Theatre in five big cities of Hanoi Hai phong Danang Nha trang and Ho chi minh will be stirred by classics by the Vietnam National Symphony and Orchestra (VNSO) from June 9 to 20 in the Toyota Concert Tour Vietnam 2008.
As the second of its kind in Vietnam this year’s Toyota concert tour will bring the audiences wonderful world of classical music, from romantic waltz by Strauss, grace ballet of Tchaikovsky to Hungarian passionate czardas. Particularly, the concert will also introduce the folksong of Bac ninh love duets Trong Com (Cylindrical Drum) arranged by composer Ngo Hoang Quan. The performance is expected as the most interesting one of the concert.
Guest lead violin at the concert, under the baton of well-known Japanese conductor Tetsuji Honna, who has conducted the VNSO since 2001, is Ai Okumura from Japan. She also played at the first Toyota concert tour last year.
"The concert aims to popularise symphony music nationwide and raise the knowledge and enjoyment of the public on the music,” said director of the VNSO, Ngo Hoang Quan.
Chairman of the Toyota Vietnam Foundation Quan Thang said “We hope the Toyota Concert Tour will bring unforgettable musical nights to music lovers from the north to the south.”
Particularly, as a gift for audiences, a game will be organised for those from 5 years old upwards. They will have a chance to take the role of a conductor in a game between the programme with the prize of a real conducting stick for the best game player.
All the proceeds of concerts will be granted to poor families or disable persons in the cities where the concerts take place.
The first concert will take place on June 9 at the Hanoi Opera House and the next ones will be organised on Haiphong Culture Theatre at June 11, at Trung Vuong Theatre in Da nang on June 14, in Khanh Hoa cultural centre in Nha trang on June 16 and at Ho Chi Minh Conservatory of Music on June 20.
Tickets price in Hanoi and Ho chi minh city is ranged from VND 120,000-200,000 while only VND 30,000 in Haiphong, Da Nang and Nha Trang.
