An exhibition entitled “Angkor Impression” featuring 38 lacquer paintings by artist Lam Triet is being shown at the Ho chi minh city Fine Arts Museum on 97 Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1.
The works used dark colors and stone sculptures, including statues of Bayon and Apsara, to present to viewers the painter’s feelings and impressions of Buddhist culture and the philosophy of the Khmer people.
Born in 1939, painter Lam Triet taught at Gia Dinh Fine Arts and Decoration College (now the HCMC University of Fine Arts). He is now living in U.S and main painter of the Melrose Square Publishing Co.
He came back home for the first time in 1990 and has had several exhibits of his work in Ha noi and Ho chi minh city The exhibit will last until July 25.
